We help protect people from phone scams by combining AI analysis with real user experiences. Every report you submit helps protect others in our community.
What You Can Report
We encourage reports about:
Scam Calls
- Callers demanding immediate payment
- IRS, Social Security, or government impersonation
- Tech support scams
- Prize or lottery scams
- Debt collection threats
- Investment or cryptocurrency scams
Robocalls & Spam
- Automated marketing calls
- Prerecorded messages
- Repeated unwanted calls
- Calls ignoring Do Not Call requests
Suspicious Activity
- Callers requesting personal information
- Callers requesting remote access to devices
- Callers pressuring immediate action
- Callers refusing to provide callback information
Legitimate Businesses (Positive Reports)
- Verify that a business number is legitimate
- Help others know a number is safe to answer
What You Cannot Report
The following reports will be removed:
Personal Disputes
- Ex-partners, family members, neighbors
- Personal vendettas or harassment
- Disputes between private individuals
Doxxing or Privacy Violations
- Full names of private individuals
- Home addresses
- Personal social media profiles
- Any personally identifiable information
False or Misleading Information
- Intentionally false reports
- Reports you know to be inaccurate
- Reports designed to harm legitimate businesses
Hate Speech or Discrimination
- Content targeting race, ethnicity, religion
- Content targeting gender, sexual orientation
- Any discriminatory language
Illegal Content
- Threats of violence
- Instructions for illegal activity
- Content that violates any law
Report Guidelines
When submitting a report, please:
Be Truthful
- Only report your actual experiences
- Don't exaggerate or fabricate details
- Include accurate dates and times when possible
Be Specific
- Describe what the caller said or did
- Note any names or organizations mentioned
- Include relevant details that help others
Be Respectful
- No profanity or vulgar language
- No personal attacks
- Keep reports focused on the phone interaction
Be Helpful
- Share information that helps others avoid scams
- Include red flags you noticed
- Describe how you identified it as suspicious
Prohibited Behavior
Users who engage in the following may be banned:
- Submitting false or misleading reports
- Spamming multiple reports on the same number
- Attempting to manipulate risk scores
- Harassing other users or businesses
- Creating multiple accounts to bypass limits
- Automated or bot submissions
- Any illegal activity
How We Use Your Reports
Community Scoring
Your reports directly impact risk scores. Multiple reports increase the risk score, while legitimate business reports can lower it.
AI Analysis
Our AI reviews reports to identify patterns and improve accuracy.
Moderation
Reports are reviewed for compliance with these guidelines. Violations are removed.
Anonymity
Your identity is never displayed publicly. We track IP addresses only for abuse prevention.
Consequences for Violations
- First Violation: Report removed, warning issued
- Second Violation: Temporary submission ban (24 hours)
- Third Violation: Extended ban (7 days)
- Severe Violations: Permanent ban, potential legal action
We reserve the right to ban users immediately for severe violations including doxxing, threats, or illegal content.
Appeals
If you believe your report was incorrectly removed or your account was wrongly banned:
- Email reports@scamverify.ai
- Include the phone number and approximate date
- Explain why you believe the decision was incorrect
- Allow 5-7 business days for review
Changes to Guidelines
We may update these guidelines at any time. Continued use of ScamVerify after changes constitutes acceptance of the new guidelines.
